Samsung announced last week that it has permanently discontinued the production and sales of the Galaxy Note7 owing to battery exploding issues. Although the flagship did not went on sale in India, there are a number of customers who had imported the device. FoneArena has learnt that Samsung will offer refunds to those customers who have imported the Note7.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Note7 in India in August for Rs. 59900. However, the phone did not go on sale in the country following battery issue reports. We have learnt from sources that Samsung will soon start offering refunds to the Note7 owners who have imported the device. The refund will be in respect to the Indian pricing of the phone. In the US, Samsung is offering up to $100 credit to exchange Galaxy Note7 for another Galaxy device.
When the Note7 issues started surfacing , several airlines across the world banned the phone from being carried in check-in luggage or usage or charging on board. Now after the recent explosions with even the replacement devices, the company stopped production of the device and issued a global recall. Yesterday, several airlines worldwide have issued a complete ban on the Note7 on board any flight including hand luggage. It is now a federal crime to board a flight with a Note7 in the US. You would be denied boarding if you turn in the airport with the Samsung Galaxy Note7 .
